Research In Motion (RIM) said that sales of BlackBerry smartphones that use the latest operating system from RIM, Blackberry 10, will not happen until the end of 2012. The delay was caused because the current RIM was focused to produce a tablet device Playbook.
Procurement tablet device had been expressed by RIM will cost up to USD485 million. Obviously with a very large fund, it is very difficult to also bring the latest smartphone devices in the year 2012 which also introduced their latest mobile operating system, Blackberry 10.
Playbook tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of this year have decreased. The number of RIM's tablet devices shipped only reach up to 150,000 units of tablets. In fact, in the second quarter of this year, RIM has shipped up to 200,000 units. According to a statement from the Co-CEO of RIM, Mike Lazaridis, "Right now RIM has had several programs ready to launch a new campaign to increase sales of tablet devices Playbook".
Apparently, RIM is committed to its flagship tablet device to remain competitive in the tablet market. In addition, delays launch of new smartphones with the latest mobile operating system in 2012 also caused because RIM has decided to choose a more sophisticated use of the chipset with a power efficiency technologies.
About the latest mobile operating system owned by RIM, Blackberry 10, is the latest generation mobile operating system which is claimed as a revolutionary mobile operating system. Developed mobile operating system for smartphones from RIM is considered to have a fairly fast performance, easy, and has abundant applications. But unfortunately, the new mobile operating system owned by RIM is not certain the time of its release.
